Accepted throughout the UK

PTE Academic UKVI is an approved, four-skill Secure English Language Test (SELT). It is the same test as PTE Academic, but includes a Unique Reference Number (URN) for your UK visa application.

For study visas

This test is accepted for a Student route visa (formerly known as the Tier 4 General student visa), for study:

  • Below degree level (eg a foundation, pathways or professional English course) and/or
  • Somewhere that is not a Higher Education Institution

Please note: if you are studying at degree level or above at a Higher Education Institution, you should take PTE Academic. Please check with your institution to confirm their specific English requirements.

For work visas

You should choose PTE Academic UKVI if you’re applying for a:

  • Skilled worker visa (formerly known as the Tier 2 General work visa)
  • Start-up visa
  • Innovator visa
  • Minister of religion visa (Tier 2)

  1. Speaking & writing
  2. Reading
  3. Listening
